Our Mission

The Instrumentation Resource Facility (IRF) supports and accelerates biomedical research across the Floyd School of Medicine and main campus research environments by providing centralized access to advanced instrumentation, technical expertise, and resources that enable innovation, discovery, and the expansion of scientific knowledge.

Purpose

As a centralized core facility under the Office of the Vice President for Research - Research Facilities & Infrastructure, the Instrumentation Resource Facility (IRF) supports the research and teaching missions of the University of South Carolina by providing access to major state-of-the-art biotechnological equipment. The IRF enables investigations spanning single-cell and molecular-level analyses to whole-animal imaging. In addition, the facility maintains a comprehensive suite of ancillary equipment for sample preparation, image enhancement, and data analysis.
